Activities . . . . . 2011

Summers are the perfect time for fun and activities. This year’s activities are designed to attract participation, promote friendship and build camaraderie. We encourage all members, guests, and renters to attend. Listed below are our events for the year.  

Additionally a trip to see The Traverse City Beach Bums, a professional baseball team based in Traverse City, is being explored, and our annual Bike Tour date is to be determined

As a reminder, events are popular at L’Arbre Croche, so we encourage you to make your reservation early.  All Beach Parties will be by reservation.  This will guarantee you a table and seat.

L’Arbre Croche Club is not licensed to sell beer, wine, or liquor. Therefore, all Club sponsored events are BYOL - “Bring Your Own Liquor”. As always a bartender and set-ups will be provided.

Memorial Weekend Cocktail Party*

Saturday, May 28th, 6 p.m. Memorial Weekend traditionally is the start of the summer season, and your Club begins this social season with our annual “Welcome Back” cocktail buffet at Poolside. We will feature a selection of warm and cold hors d’oeuvres and remember BYOL. We supply the bartenders and set-ups. This is a great occasion to renew old acquaintances, make new ones, and enjoy the mirth and fun along with the company of family and friends.

All American Barbecue Party*

Saturday, July 2nd, 6:30 p.m. We welcome “The Lookout Cats” a band from Traverse City to set the tempo for the first of our summer beach parties. This year’s party is shaping up to be a great get-together down at the beach. So bring your family, friends, and an appetite to the waterfront for what will be a terrific evening of dancing to the “The Lookout Cats.” The menu features grilled barbecued baby pork ribs, spinach and strawberry salad, potato salad, a black beans with corn salad, and jalapeno corn bread. For dessert we will be serving strawberry sundaes. The buffet opens at 7:00 p.m. and will be served until 8:00 p.m.

Perch Fry*

Saturday, July 16th, 6:30 p.m. The fourteenth annual Perch Fry will feature Charlevoix’s own “Chris Martin and his Bhilharmonic Orchestra” as the night’s entertainment. This year’s menu featured will again be pan-fried perch served alongside of grilled cherry and apple pork tenderloin, cold slaw, fresh fruit salad, marinated vegetables salad, and ice cream cones for dessert. Dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the band begins at 7:30 p.m. Make plans to attend a fun-filled evening on the beach with your family, friends, and neighbors.

42nd Annual Lobster/Clam Bake*

Saturday, August 6th, 6:30 p.m.  A traditional beach party, featuring steamed clams, lobsters, filets, friendship, and fun, was begun on August 20th, 1970, by Bill Petzold. This year it will be held Saturday, August 6th, on our waterfront. Join us for the summer’s most anticipated event with live lobsters and clams flown in from the East Coast and prepared and served on our beach. The band entertaining us will be the Lobster Party favorite, “The Jelly Roll Blues Band.” The food will be served beginning at 7:00 p.m. and the band will entertain you beginning at 8:00 p.m. Shuttle service for guests will be available at the parking lot behind the gatehouse.

Trialthon & Sailing Regatta

Swimmers, Kayakers, Cyclists, and Runners…OH MY!18th Annual L’Arbre Croche Club TriathlonSaturday, August 6thL’Arbre Croche Waterfront

The triathlon consists of ½ mile swim, or kayak course, bike ride and 4 mile run. The swim is in the bay in front of the beach house. The bike ride requires a mountain bike and helmet. The bike/run transition is at Zoll St. Park. The run back to the L’Arbre Croche beachfront is on pavement to Harbor Cove, then along the beach. More details will follow in your Club mailbox.

The L’Arbre Croche Triathlon raises both money and awareness for the L’Arbre Croche Fund, which is a designated fund, within the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Community Foundation. This year - sponsor a team, individual, or donate on behalf of the field of competitors. Information and envelopes will be sent to you in early July.

L’Arbre Croche’s own regatta rounds out the afternoon.  You’ll find a plethora of sunfishes and other small sail craft participate with sailers of all levels and family members of all ages involved. Come join the fun!

Brunch on the Beach

Sunday @ Noon, September 4th. Bring your family and guests and join your fellow members for the end of the summer brunch down on the beach. A few surprises will be whipped up so bring your Mimosas or Bloody Mary’s to toast the end of another superb summer here in L’Arbre Croche Club.
